Duty to God #4: Missionary Preparation
Requirement 1 |
Read Doctrine & Covenants 4 and discuss with a parent or leader what it means to be spiritually, physically, socially, and financially prepared to serve a mission. You might consider memorizing all or part of Doctrine and Covenants 4. Discuss how important it is to learn to work and do hard things as you prepare for missionary service. If you haven’t already done so, establish a mission savings account and plan how you can earn money to regularly add to that account to help finance your mission.
Requirement 2 |
Read Chapter 6 in Preach My Gospel and select three Christlike characteristics that are important for successful missionaries. Focus for three weeks on improving each of these characteristics in your own life. Work with your ward mission leader or the full-time missionaries and identify how they apply one of your chosen characteristics in their missionary work. Write in your journal what you have done to improve in each of those areas.

Review the pages in Hymns about leading music and, with a parent or leader, lead one hymn in 2/4 (or 6/8) time, one hymn in 3/4 time, and one hymn in 4/4 time. If you need additional assistance, talk with the ward music director or someone else who knows how to lead music.
